fakesuicideAn American man sparked a frantic transatlantic search after faking his suicide on the internet.

Police in North Wales and New York state became involved in a race against time to find Joseph Shepherd after he said he was going to slash his wrists.

The 21-year-old had been talking with several people in Gwent, North Wales, in an internet chat room and complaining about his life.

He said he was depressed and was going to kill himself by slashing his wrists.

Chat room users watching Shepherd on a webcam at his home in Lockport, upstate New York,saw him lie down on his bed and remain still.

Fearing he had gone through with his suicide plan several people in Gwent, North Wales contacted police. Continue reading “Dying for Sympathy”
