Balls Out Bowling

Didn’t anybody tell these guys that bowling is a castration sport?

“Pittsburgh group brings back ‘Balls Out Bowling’ nude event,” by Ben Hooper, UPI, July 10, 2025.

A Pennsylvania naturism group announced the return of “Balls Out Bowling,” an annual bowling event where clothing is not allowed.

The Pittsburgh Area Naturalists announced this year’s Balls Out Bowling event will take place on Saturday at Pittsburgh’s Crafton Ingram Lanes.

Admission to the annual event is $30, which includes four hours of unlimited bowling and shoe rental.

The group said the only clothing allowed for attendees are shoes, which are required, and optional bottoms for women.

Stepping in Imaginary Shit

Spinal Tap revisited decades later:

“Spotify hit band The Velvet Sundown comes clean on AI,” by Trevor Mogg, Digital Trends, July 6, 2025.

The Velvet Sundown burst onto the music scene in early June and in the space of just a few weeks gained an astonishing 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

But its bland music style, hyper-realistic band images, and lack of a digital footprint quickly led many people to suspect that the The Velvet Sundown was AI-generated. And it turns out they were right.

After weeks of speculation, a new message posted on its Spotify page over the weekend finally admitting that the band and its music are the work of generative AI.

Happy 55th Anniversary Earlville Opera House!

Plaque on the wall at the Earlville Opera House, Earlville, New York:

“With Perpetual Gratitude, We Thank Artist, Activist & Cultural Visionary, Joey Skaggs for Saving the Earlville Opera House from Demolition in 1970…”

From the Vault:

55 years ago, Joey Skaggs came upon a derelict opera house in Earlville, New York destined to be torn down and turned into a parking lot. He bought it and donated it to a community group to insure that it would be used as a performing arts center in perpetuity. Check out the 6 minute film about this from the Oral History series “Joey Skaggs Satire and Art Activism”.
